LOW-E glass, also known as low radiation glass, is a film product composed of multiple layers of metal or other compounds coated on the surface of glass. Its unique coating layer design endows LOW-E glass with high transmittance to visible light and high reflection to mid to far infrared rays, thereby endowing it with superior thermal insulation and light transmittance compared to ordinary glass and traditional coated glass used in buildings.

Features and advantages

1. Excellent thermal performance: LOW-E glass significantly reduces indoor and outdoor heat transfer by reducing the emissivity of the glass. According to research, the heat loss of exterior door and window glass accounts for more than 50% of building energy consumption, while LOW-E glass can effectively reduce the transfer of indoor heat energy to the outside caused by radiation, achieving ideal energy-saving effects. For example, after coating with silver based low radiation film, the emissivity of LOW-E glass can be reduced to below 0.15, far lower than 0.84 of ordinary float glass.

2. Good optical performance: The visible light transmittance of LOW-E glass ranges from 0% to 95% theoretically, making indoor lighting superior. Meanwhile, its outdoor reflectance is controlled at around 10% -30%, meeting China's requirement for a visible light reflectance of no more than 30% for curtain walls.

3. Environmental benefits: The use of LOW-E glass not only reduces building energy consumption, but also indirectly reduces the emissions of fuel and harmful gases consumed for heating, making contributions to the environmental protection industry.

4. Multifunctionality: LOW-E glass not only has excellent thermal insulation effect, but also has various functions such as insulation, sound insulation, and noise reduction, adapting to the needs of different seasons and environments.

5. Decoration: LOW-E glass can be made into different colors such as gold and silver according to different thicknesses, materials, etc., to adapt to different decoration styles and have a certain degree of decoration.

Application and Development

LOW-E glass has been widely used in developed countries due to its excellent performance and environmental benefits.

LOW-E glass, as an efficient building material, has a wide range of application prospects in areas such as building energy conservation, environmental protection, and decoration due to its unique coating technology and excellent performance.
